An old French proverb by Jean Massieu reads, “Gratitude is the memory of the heart,” while Robert Emmons, the world’s gratitude expert, describes it as the “fertilizer of the mind.”

Gratitude is a widely researched practice, and its effect on promoting wellbeing and positive outlook is well documented. The gratitude circle aims to create a safe and supportive space for participants to notice and acknowledge their small but significant accomplishments, recognise their inner courage and explore practical tools to cultivate this as a daily practice.  The community environment provides an opportunity to connect with others, learn from their perspectives, and find support to achieve their wellbeing goals. By taking some quality time, this space also allows participants to prioritise themselves by recharging their energy levels and refocusing their thoughts on life’s essentials.

This monthly circle is typically held in the last week, with additional circles added based on interest. The sessions are conducted online on Zoom and will not be recorded.

There’s an opportunity to offer this in other time zones (US Central/Eastern and Asia).

WHAT IS THE WORKSHOP ABOUT?

The Gratitude Circle Workshop is a gathering where participants come together to share their joys, blessings, and expressions of gratitude. In a warm and supportive environment, individuals can connect with others, deepen their appreciation, and cultivate a more positive outlook.

The workshop often includes reflective prompts for participants to contemplate and frame as a discussion, engaging with exercises to cultivate the gratitude practice – enabling the participants to:

~ Connect with their inner selves: Through reflection, participants can become more attuned to their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, allowing them to appreciate the positive aspects of their lives and promote self-confidence and positive emotions.  It also provides a space to pause and notice how they have overcome situations and tap into that inner wisdom and strategy for success.

~ Build stronger relationships: Sharing gratitude with others can strengthen bonds and foster community. It allows us to open our perspectives and invite new ideas and insights, thus inspiring us to live more attentively.

~ Improve health: Practising gratitude has been shown to have numerous benefits for mental and emotional health. It leads to more positive experiences, lowers stress hormones, and boosts our mood.

~ Increase resilience: Acknowledging our journey reminds us of our inner strength, the skills developed to cope with challenges, and a reminder that it turned out okay.  It also reminds us to recognise the support systems and structures that are available to us.

“Gratitude acknowledges connection…When we contemplate our place in the intricate, interdependent network of life, we feel wonder and joy.”

Robert Emmons
